  • Sierra Palms trail to the river: about a 20-minute switchback trail to a giant natural pool. Casa Cubuy trail to the river: about 10 minutes to small pools and waterfalls. Path to the left after the gate, to a pool at Rio Cubuy: a great swimming area with waterfalls and a small natural slide; if you drive and park at the gate you can be in the water in about 5 minutes. Walk from Rio Cubuy to Rio Sabana: a 20 to 30 minute leisurely walk along a paved road through the rainforest. Hike from the Rio Sabana Recreation Area to the river: about 1 hour; no trails are maintained on the other side of the river, so please do not cross it to keep hiking. Enjoy the river and come back on the same trail.

  • Please do not follow hiking apps. They are not accurate for Puerto Rico, and we do not want guests to get lost or have to spend the night outdoors in the rainforest.
