We are perched above the Cubuy River (Coo-buoy), hence the name, Casa Cubuy.
The name originates from the Taino Indian language, meaning "wherever you step, there is water".

ABOUT OUR ECOLODGE

There are fewer and fewer places on Earth free from civilization. Ecotourists visit these places. Casa Cubuy Ecolodge, situated within the proclamation boundary of the El Yunque Rainforest is such a facility because:

We have a small footprint in the forest
We generate our own electricity with solar panels
We are at the highest altitude(1,500ft) in El Yunque
We recycle and compost
We urge our guests to take nothing out of the forest and leave only footprints
We participate in community efforts to preserve and protect the forest

In the minds of some, the term “ecolodge” is associated with bare bones accommodations, one step up from camping. This is not us. We provide the comforts and amenities to merit a 4-5 star rating from our guests over our 20+ year history.

Casa Cubuy Ecolodge is a special, tranquil place whereyou can contemplate the wonder and beauty of the rain forestthat surrounds you. Sunbathe on granite slabs and boulders wornsmooth by eons of cascading waters. Slip into a natural jacuzzi and let the water gently massage away the tensions of city life. Relax in a hammock on the verandah, read, or just watch the clouds float by in this setting of giant tree ferns, soaring breadfruit trees, and wild orchids. Explore trails to prehistoric Indian rock carvings. Guests now have access to a fully equipped kitchen located on our upper level with plenty of seating to enjoy a meal with a view.

Casa Cubuy is located above Naguabo in Eastern Puerto Rico. This quiet retreat lies nearly at the top of the road on the south side of the mountain and offers a less stressful alternative than the busy North side of the El Yunque Rainforest. . Casa Cubuy is perched on a hill above a river with many waterfalls. A short uphill trek from the house on a paved road brings you to the new El Yunque National Forest recreational facility, where interpretive guides may offer forest hikes.

Breakfast
The rate at Casa Cubuy includes breakfast. Casa Cubuy has a guest kitchen for guests to store food and cook their own meals. Guests at the three rooms of Sierra Palms have a shared kitchen to prepare their own meals.

Hiking Trails
Guests at Casa Cubuy and Sierra Palms both have access to private hiking trails to the Cubuy River.
There are nearby trails for both beginner and advanced hikers.

The Rainforest
After a ten minute walk up road 191, guests will see the sign that says "You are entering the El Yunque National Forest". Another fifteen minute walk will lead hikers to a passive recreation area. From there, trails will take you deep into the forest.

Casa Cubuy and Sierra Palms have a 2 night minimum stay.

No pet facilities are offered.

Cancellation Policy

$25 administration fee is charged for ALL cancellations. Additionally 50% of the total is charged if reservation is cancelled within 7 days of check in. We urge all guests to have travel insurance especially in periods of severe weather & covid surges.

Additional Information

- Room rates are calculated for two persons. There is a $40 charge per person, per night for each additional guest, age 2 and over.

-There is a 9% room tax at Casa Cubuy and 7% at Sierra Palms.
