CANCELLATION
POLICY |
|
The inn hovers over the forest, looking out on waterfalls and an undulating pattern of tropical green punctuated by palms and trellised with tree ferns. By day it is serenaded by birds and at night by coquis. Casa Cubuy is remote. It has no TV, no nearby night spots (although there are local pubs and restaurants a few miles down the mountain). There are no scooter rentals, no hassles, no traffic, no noise, no crowds. Besides the location, the best thing about Casa Cubuy is its Mother and son owner/management team, Marianne and Matthew Kavanaugh. Matthew can tell you where to see pre-Columbian petroglyphs, and how to hunt for huge freshwater prawns. Marianne will cook a scrumptious breakfast, with plenty of fresh fruits and juices. All too soon it is time to leave, and if you are anything like us, you won't want to go. New 'Adventures Inn' on the nearby island of Vieques. The perfect balance to your stay in the rainforest, spectacular beaches and bioluminescent bay. |

In a few minutes you will see a metal suspension bridge, do NOT cross this first bridge but continue straight onto # 191. It parallels the Rio Blanco River. DO take the left over the second bridge and continue up the mountain, for about 15 minutes. Juan or the Airport may we suggest a scenic option. From the airport,
head West on road #26 for a short distance, turning right onto road #187.

passing through Loiza. Once at Rio Grande you will connect with
the main #3 road. Turn left (east) towards
Fajardo and follow the directions described above. Route #3: From airport turn right on to #26 thru Minillas Tunnel and keep left to #18. Stay left to #52 after passing thru toll area keep right and take first exit (Caguas). Go under over pass and bear right on to #30. Take exit #14 and go left on to #31. After 20 minutes you will cross a metal suspension bridge. Go left at this T intersection. From here on follow previous directions. (Altogether, the driving time from the airport to Casa Cubuy will be 1 hour and 15 minutes.) The most economical mode of
transportation outside of the San Juan area is by rental car. Publicos
