The inn hovers over the forest, looking out on waterfalls and an undulating pattern of tropical green punctuated by palms and trellised with tree ferns. By day it is serenaded by birds and at night by coquis.

Casa Cubuy is remote. It has no TV, no nearby night spots (although there are local pubs and restaurants a few miles down the mountain). There are no scooter rentals, no hassles, no traffic, no noise, no crowds.

Besides the location, the best thing about Casa Cubuy is its Mother and son owner/management team, Marianne and Matthew Kavanaugh. Matthew can tell you where to see pre-Columbian petroglyphs, and how to hunt for huge freshwater prawns. Marianne will cook a scrumptious breakfast, with plenty of fresh fruits and juices.

All too soon it is time to leave, and if you are anything like us, you won't want to go.

New 'Adventures Inn' on the nearby island of Vieques. The perfect balance to your stay in the rainforest, spectacular beaches and bioluminescent bay.
